Check the current terms at homeenergyscotland.org before you commit. The key point No work can start until you have the funding offer in writing. ## Get the offer in writing before any work starts. The order you do things in counts. - **Speak to Home Energy Scotland**: You apply through them, online or on 0808 808 2282, and an adviser checks what you can get. - **Get your survey and quote from us**: So you know what the house needs and what the install involves. - **Wait for the written offer**: Funding is first come, first served and depends on what's available, so it's worth applying early. - **Then we install**: Through our partner, Alto Energy, once the offer is in writing. ## Funding questions - **Do I have to take the loan to get the grant?**: No. The grant can be taken on its own, and the interest-free loan is optional. - **Can work start before the funding is approved?**: No. No work can start until you've received the funding offer in writing. - **Does a hybrid heat pump qualify?**: Not for the Home Energy Scotland grant. The heat pump has to provide all of the home's heating and hot water, so hybrid and air-to-air heat pumps aren't eligible. - **I'm a landlord. Can I get funding?**: The homeowner grant is for people living in their own home. Registered private landlords can apply to Home Energy Scotland for the Private Rented Sector Landlord Loan instead, which covers heat pumps. - **Do I need to be on benefits?**: Not for the Home Energy Scotland grant and loan. Warmer Homes Scotland is the scheme for households that meet its criteria, which include receiving certain benefits. ## Planning a heat pump? Quotes are free.
